Nevada LIVE (Liability Insurance Validation Electronically) is the Department of Motor Vehicles' project to modernize our system to verify motor vehicle liability insurance coverage.
This web page is intended to keep insurance companies and other interested parties up to date on the progress.

Questions? Contact the NV Live Task Force.
A public hearing has been set for March 9 on new regulations for policy reporting. See Public Meetings.
SFTP files submitted between February 1, 2010, to March 5, 2010, to meet monthly reporting requirements must follow this standard naming convention DMVNVLN#####DyyyymmddVnn.txt (for Production file). If the file does not have the "V" indicator the records will not be processed.
The new implementation date for Nevada LIVE has been delayed until March 15, 2010. The delay is a result of the need to complete the Web Service certificate installation and testing. DMV is working diligently to resolve this issue, and needs time to complete additional programming.
There will be no changes to the current reporting processes (tapes, cartridges, or discs) or beginning February 1, 2010, you may submit records using Secure FTP. Reports are due once a month as they are in the current program. If you have further questions, please contact us by e-mail at DMV_NV_Live_Task_Force@dmv.nv.gov.
As your company submits all of the required documentation, your IT Contact listed on the Administrative Authorization form will be directed to begin testing. All testing must be completed by March 5, 2010.
The submission of all ACTIVE liability insurance records (book of business) has been scheduled during the week of March 8, 2010. The file must be production data and no older than March 5, 2010. See the Book of Business Production Schedule for your company's date.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as this project moves forward.
The NV Live Task Force has developed a presentation explaining the project.

Dear Insurance Industry Representatives:
The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (Department) is pleased to announce we are redesigning the method in which evidence of motor vehicle liability insurance will be verified with insurance carriers. The program has been named Nevada LIVE and planned implementation is scheduled for January 2010.
Nevada LIVE will eliminate the need for insurance companies to submit insurance information to the Department via the current medium. Instead, the data will be validated electronically via a web-based service utilizing standards prescribed by the Insurance Industry Committee on Motor Vehicle Administration (IICMVA). The Department is utilizing the IICMVA Model User Guide for Implementing Online Insurance Verification, Version 3.0 dated May 8, 2008, and available at http://www.iicmva.com/iicmva_model_user_guide_v3.doc. IICMVA identifies the following benefits of online insurance verification:
The plan is to electronically query participating insurance companies writing Nevada policies during qualifying events and at predetermined intervals. For insurance companies that do not currently have the web-based services, an alternate system of reporting will be established for a limited amount of time to allow for full compliance.
The Department is working closely with an IICMVA Task Force, comprised of insurance industry representatives, to make the transition as smooth as possible. Our goal is to develop a program that meets the legislative intent to ensure all actively registered vehicles are insured.
We have enclosed a short questionnaire for you to complete. Your responses will be very valuable to the development of a successful insurance verification program. You can complete the survey online at www.dmvnv.com/survey or return the completed survey to the address listed above attn: Nevada LIVE survey. Please respond to the questionnaire no later than February 17, 2009.
The Department will be issuing regular updates on the progress and requirements of Nevada LIVE on the internet. You can review the updates at www.dmvnv.com/nvlive.htm.
Questions may be directed to the Department of Motor Vehicles, attn: Nevada LIVE at the address above, by telephone at (775) 684-4689, or by e-mail at bnieto@dmv.nv.gov.
Sincerely,
Martha Barnes, Administrator
