Lovelock Woman Arrested for Embezzlement

District attorney agrees to probation for suspect with full restitution for victim

 

On June 11, 1999, Lovelock resident Laura Flores was arrested by the Nevada Division of Investigation pursuant to an arrest warrant charging her with five felony counts of embezzlement in violation of NRS 205.300 and one felony count of the fraudulent use of a credit card in violation of NRS 205.760. Flores was the office manager for Landview Fertilizer, formerly Ricardo's Agricultural Products, when the theft occurred. Ricardo's Agricultural Products is a Lovelock company owned by Ricardo Arias. Flores issued five company checks to herself and used the company credit card to purchase an airline ticket and motel room in Seattle, Washington.

On October 12, 1999, Flores entered an nolo contendere plea in the Sixth Judicial Court to two gross misdemeanor counts of Conspiracy to Commit Embezzlement, in violation of NRS 205.300 and 199.480. As part of the plea agreement, the district attorney agreed to recommend probation and it was agreed that full restitution be made which exceed $3,900.00.
