Drug Enforcement Administration's Mobile Enforcement Team partners with Tri-Net

The Tri-Net Task Force, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration's Mobile Enforcement Team (DEA-MET), invites members of the media to a press briefing on the conclusion of a three-month investigation and drug sweep of the Carson City area.

Photo Opportunity

When: Thursday, November 18 at 10:00am

Where: Nevada Division of Investigation at the State of Nevada Stewart Center, 107 Jacobsen Way in Carson City.

What: The briefing will include a photo opportunity of the drug seizure estimated at over $100,000.00 and a list of the 34 individuals arrested in conjunction with the sting. MET special agents and Tri-Net officers will also be available to answer questions and explain the logistics of the operation.

The investigation began in the Carson City area September 1st with the MET deployment of special agents with Tri-Net officers. MET special agents are tactically trained forces that assist local law enforcement in attacking the violent drug organizations in their neighborhoods. MET was created by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in early 1995 as a federal response to the overwhelming problem of drug-related violent crime that plagues neighborhoods and communities throughout the US. The Carson City operation was funded completely by the DEA, with no additional costs to the State of Nevada.

Following the closure of this MET-assisted operation, DEA officials will meet with representatives of Tri-Net and NDI to evaluate the long-term success of the operation. Measures of effectiveness include: visible reduction of drug use and sales, the stability of the target area and community reaction and involvement.

The Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force is comprised of members of the Douglas County Sheriffs Department, Lyon County Sheriffs Department, Carson City Sheriffs Department, Storey County Sheriffs Department and the Nevada Division of Investigation.
