DMV “IMPACT DAY” TO TARGET UNLICENSED BUSINESSES

Investigators will issue citations to repair garages, auto dealers

LAS VEGAS – Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Compliance Enforcement investigators in Las Vegas will be working in the community on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 to help ensure that all businesses regulated by the Department are properly registered or licensed as required.

The DMV “Impact Day” will target auto dealers, repair garages, body shops and similar businesses who are potentially in violation of licensing laws. The Department’s goals are to protect the public and ensure a level playing field in vehicle-related industries.

“Garages, body shops and auto dealers have to be licensed and bonded, have a fixed place of business and follow strict standards on advertising, estimates and contracts,” said Sterling Nixon, deputy administrator for the DMV Compliance Enforcement Division.

Some businesses have been operating illegally because they have never registered with DMV while others failed to renew their registration or license.

Consumers may obtain vehicle industry registration and licensing information by visiting any Occupational and Business License office at the DMV or from our website at www.dmvnv.com.
