Department of Motor Vehicles Director Edgar Roberts today announced the selection of Farrokh Hormazdi as the department’s new deputy director. Hormazdi will replace Clay Thomas who retired Dec. 31, 2008.
Hormazdi is currently an auditor with the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and has an extensive background in the public and private sector.
“Farrokh brings a wealth of experience to the DMV,” Roberts said. “As a former Wall Street investment banker and business entrepreneur as well as a state employee, he has a broad perspective that will be valuable to the department.”
Hormazdi has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accountancy. His experience also includes state service as a DMV auditor.
“I am genuinely excited to take on this responsibility,” Hormazdi said. “I am looking forward to return to the DMV and being a part of the team.”
Hormazdi’s first day as deputy director of the Department of Motor Vehicles is Feb. 9, 2009.
