NEWS FROM: Compliance Enforcement Division 05-010
Compliance Enforcement Division investigators from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles took administrative action against Internet Auto Sales, 1220 Kietzke Lane in Reno, yesterday for violations of the Nevada Revised Statues. The notice of violation included a three-day suspension from doing business and a $5,000 fine.
The notice was served to John C. Stephens who does business as Internet Auto Rent and Sales, Inc.
According to the notice, the used car dealer improperly issued a dealerís report of sale, failed to satisfy an outstanding security interest for a trade-in and furnished false information to the department to obtain a title.
It was the fifth documented violation for the dealership regarding dealerís reports of sale in less than three years and the second violation for failing to satisfy an outstanding security interest in less than a year. The dealership was fined $2,500 for each of the current violations.
The three-day suspension came from ďan obvious and willful failure to comply with the provisions of the motor vehicle laws of the State of Nevada,Ē according to the violation notice.
Stephens has 30 days to request a hearing to challenge the departmentís action but must request a hearing by Monday, August 8 or the suspension goes into effect.
