FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 22, 2005
NEWS
FROM: Compliance Enforcement Division
Compliance Enforcement investigators from the Department of Motor Vehicles arrested 46-year-old Nassrollah Behmard, a.k.a. “Benny” and owner of Benny’s Auto Sales, on four gross misdemeanor counts of knowingly failing to submit the original copies of Dealer’s Reports of Sales to the department as required by law.
Behmard was arrested Friday and booked into the Washoe County Jail on an arrest warrant issued by the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office. Bail was set at $6,000. Each gross misdemeanor count carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine.
There are currently no customers of Benny’s Auto Sales who are affected by Behmard’s alleged improper business practices. The department has no evidence that any vehicle was improperly sold or titled.
The arrest is the result of DMV audit conducted earlier this year that turned up numerous violations of Nevada law and administrative code.
The department is also pursuing revocation of Behmard’s auto dealer’s license to operate Benny’s Auto Sales, now doing business as Magic Auto Land at 1696 S. Virginia St. This action is separate from the criminal charges.
