DIRECTOR DEMONSTRATES KIOSKS JUNE 3 IN HENDERSON

The media is invited to a demonstration of the new cash accepting self-serve kiosks in Southern Nevada Thursday, June 3, 10 a.m. at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles office in Henderson. Director Ginny Lewis will demonstrate the machine and be available for interviews. The Henderson office is located at 1399 American Pacific Dr. at the corner of Stephanie St. 

The kiosks are like no other in the nation. They not only accept cash and credit/debit cards, they immediately dispense the renewal decal and registration form. Virginia and Indiana have similar kiosk programs but Virginia’s doesn’t dispense decals and neither takes cash.

The initial pilot program to test the technology was successfully implemented at the department’s W. Carey office in North Las Vegas and completed last April. The department began installing other kiosks in major Las Vegas offices in early May. There are two machines in each of the four full-service DMV offices and one at the express office on Donovan Way.

The DMV’s statistics for May show the nine machines handled 2,062 cash transactions and 1,342 credit card transactions with 794 transactions in Spanish.
