CARSON CITY – Department of Motor Vehicles employees will dedicate a plaque to all heroes of the 9-11 attacks as well as local fire fighters and law enforcement officers on the first anniversary of the attacks this Wednesday, 4 p.m. at 555 Wright Way.
“The employees all wanted to remember Sept. 11 in a special way but didn’t know what to do,” said Linda Hill, activities committee chair for the Carson City DMV office. “They didn’t want it to be a sorrowful day but they didn’t want it to be a party. So we decided to have a luncheon, raise money and put up a plaque and flag to honor the 9-11 heroes and our local heroes who make sacrifices every day.”
The “All American Lunch” will feature chicken, potato salad, apple pie and cost $5. Employees are also being encouraged to dress patriotic that day and decorate their workspaces in a red-white-and-blue theme.
“The division with the best patriotic decorations will receive a ‘Spirit of DMV’ trophy,” Hill said.
