5 Arrested in Douglas County Drug Bust
$11,000.00 of marijuana recovered

On May 24, 2000, drug investigators arrested five people and seized over three pounds of high grade marijuana. Investigators from the Tri-Net Narcotic Task Force along with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department and the Nevada Division of Investigation arrested Ian Matthew Atack age30, at a local auto repair shop in Minden for ex-felon failure to register and possession of marijuana. Investigators then went to Atack's apartment on Lampe Dr. where they located and arrested Marshall Wright, age 18, for possession of drug paraphernalia, and Benjamin Atack, age 22, for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

During a search of the residence, investigators located over three pounds of marijuana, scales, items used to package and sell marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a list of drug customers. Additional charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of sales have been filed against Benjamin and Ian Atack.

While investigators were searching the residence numerous phone calls were being made to the residence to place orders to purchase marijuana. Task Force Lt. Steve Albertsen stated that on a number of occasions investigators would answer the phone stating they were the police or Tri-Net and the caller would still place an order for drugs. "Two people also came to the apartment and purchased marijuana from an investigator," Albertsen said. "They still did not believe we were the police until after they were arrested." Arrested for purchasing marijuana were Justin Banks, age 22, and Jason Dunbar, age 25, both from Gardnerville.

Lt. Albertsen stated the marijuana was being sold for $150.00 for 1/4 of an ounce. Based on this price, the total street value of the marijuana seized was approximately $11,000.00.

The Tri-Net Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Sheriff's Departments of Douglas County, Carson City, Lyon County, Storey County and investigators from the Nevada Division of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
