Police officers from agencies across the state will carry a baton from northwest Las Vegas to the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Carson City over the next week to honor their fallen brethren. The Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Run begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, in northwest Las Vegas.
This is the first of what will be annual runs conducted during National Police Memorial Week. It is being coordinated by the Nevada Conference of Police and Sheriffs (NCOPS) and the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Commission. The distance of approximately 430 miles has been split into 95 separate legs. The baton is scheduled to arrive in Carson City on May 16th. The final leg of the run from the Ormsby House Hotel to the Memorial at the Nevada State Capitol will be completed on the morning of May 17th.
