Registration Renewal Notice Mailing Delayed
Mailing for renewal notices from December 23-January 5 deferred due to decal delivery delay
Due to vendor circumstances that were out the Department's control, officials from the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety delayed the mailing of registration renewals for those motorists whose registrations expire between December 23-January 5. American Decal, the Chicago vendor who supplies the decals that are affixed to customers' license plate, did not provide the registration decals in the time frame needed for the Department to process those registrations expiring in early January. The appropriate decals have been delivered and are now in branch offices across the state. Customers whose registrations come up for renewal the last week of December may have only 7-10 days to renew. No late fees will be assessed for this group of motorists whose registrations expire between December 23-January 5.
Customers who receive their registration renewal notice and whose registrations expire between December 23 and January 5, are urged to use the alternative renewal services: renew by mail, interactive phone renewal and internet renewal. The internet web site address is www.state.nv.us/dmv_ps/. To use the telephone renewal system, call 1-877-DMV-STAT. (1-877-368-7828).
Ginny Lewis, Deputy Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles, said, "We apologize for any inconvenience this vendor delay may have caused our customers. We are in the process of obtaining equipment that will automate the decal procedure by allowing us the produce them "in-house." We hope to have the decal machine up and running by next year."
Customers who have questions about their renewals are asked to call 1-877-368-7828.
