Emergency Managers Prepare for Disaster
Statewide Conference Designed to Enhance Nevada Emergency Response

Is Nevada prepared for major disasters such as an earthquakes, floods, hazardous materials spills or terrorist incidents? What is being done to prepare for them? How can we learn from the past?

Emergency management experts and other concerned officials from across the state will meet this week to discuss ways to improve Nevada's emergency response capabilities. The State Emergency Management Directors/Coordinators Conference convenes at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas March 29 - 30, 2000.

Topics include presentation of the revised State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, a look back at Y2K and much more:

• The new Weapons of Mass Destruction-Domestic Terrorism State Steering Committee
• Updates on ongoing mitigation and preparedness programs
• Preview of the upcoming Governor's Fire Summit
