Narcotics Suspect Dies in Custody
Man Suffers Chest Pains Shortly After Parole and Probation Arrest

During the afternoon of Wednesday, March 15th, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Nevada Parole and Probation officers searched the home of 22-year-old Jason McCrea. McCrea is serving probation for a conviction of Attempted Possession of a Controlled Substance and officers had reason to believe he may have violated his probation by committing further drug offenses.

The search of the residence at 404 Bandera Dr. in Las Vegas turned up 204 grams of marijuana. Three people were placed under arrest: McCrea, his father, 48-year-old Kenneth McCrea, and a woman who was also at the residence. Kenneth McCrea had a small quantity of marijuana and approximately $2,000 cash on his person.

While still at the residence and waiting for jail transport, Kenneth McCrea began to complain of chest pains. Parole and Probation officers immediately called for medical assistance. Kenneth McCrea was transported to Lake Mead Hospital where he was pronounced dead approximately one hour after his arrival.

The Clark County Coroner's Office was scheduled to perform an autopsy today.

Jason McCrea and the woman were transported to the Clark County Detention Center. McCrea was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent To Distribute and with probation violations.

The Nevada Division of Investigation is conducting an investigation of the incident.
