Driver License & ID Card Fees

Payment Methods

Credit Card Logos

The DMV accepts cash, checks, money orders for the exact amount, debit cards and major credit cards.

Please do not mail cash. If you wish to use a credit or debit card with mailed transactions, complete a Credit Card Authorization (VP 205) form.

Transactions at DMV kiosks carry an additional $1 processing fee.

8 Year Expirations  New!

The DMV is transitioning to 8-year expirations for most standard driver licenses, commercial licenses and identification cards. Higher fees may apply to you beginning in 2014.

Most original licenses and renewals for those who were born in an even-numbered year will be valid for 8 years. You must renew in-person at a DMV office.

Renewals for those born in odd-numbered years will be valid for 4 years at the next renewal in 2014-2017, then 8 years at the renewal in 2018 and beyond.

This does not apply to motorists age 65 and older, limited-term licenses for immigrants and others or Driver Authorization cards.
