Online Services Expanded!
Consumers: Check whether your dealer, body shop, driving school or other auto-related business has a current DMV business license. See Business License Verification. The new Emissions Station section features a customized search for stations in your area.
Body Shops: Labor Rate Survey Results are now available for surveys completed through April 30, 2008. Shops that missed the April 30 deadline must still complete the survey online but may not use the online business license renewal. Assembly Bill 181 of the 2007 Nevada Legislature requires body shops to complete the online Survey of Labor Rates before their annual business license renewal.
Other Licensees: The online Business License Renewal now includes all licensees except driving schools. Renew online this year!
Investigations
The Compliance Enforcement Division investigates cases of document fraud and identity theft that involve the use of DMV processes.
We also investigate complaints against auto dealers and similar businesses, emissions inspection stations and driving schools.
We do not handle complaints concerning auto repairs or services such as towing, movers or taxicabs. For a complete list of enforcement agencies, visit fightfraud.nv.gov
Business Licensing
The Occupational and Business Licensing Section issues DMV licenses to nearly every business in the motor vehicle industry. Salesmen, emissions inspectors and drive school instructors are also licensed individually.

The DMV's Motor Carrier Division licenses the fuel industry and issues IRP/IFTA credentials.

Emissions Program
Nevada operates a vehicle emissions Inspection/Maintenance program in cooperation with other federal, state and local agencies.
Emissions testing stations are privately owned and decentralized. Tests are required on gasoline and light-duty diesel vehicles based in and around the Las Vegas Valley in Clark County and in many parts of Washoe County.
