Nevada has very restrictive privacy laws relating to the release of DMV records to
third parties. Generally, a third party cannot get any information on a specific
driver license or registration without a notarized release from the person about whom the
information is requested.
There are exceptions for law enforcement, of course, and other parties such as
insurance companies, towing services and government agencies.
The release of DMV records is governed by Nevada Revised Statutes
481.063, Nevada
Administrative Code 481.500-481.600 and the National
Driver Privacy Protection Act.
All parties must complete one of the application
packets below and submit the request to the DMV Records Section in
Carson City.
